What is AkwaMag?
AkwaMag is magnetic water softener, made in the USA, and is arguably the most effective and reliable product from a scientific standpoint. It was invented by a research engineer with years of experience in magnetic storage and field design. AkwaMag is the only non-salt water softening technology evaluated by NASA under a Space Act Agreement for Space Station applications.
How does AkwaMag softening technology work?
AkwaMag neutralizes water hardness at the molecular level by making the “hardness” form aragonite micro clusters. These crystal clusters will pass through pipes and fixtures without settling, sticking, or forming scales. They will re-dissolve to the normal “hardness” in waste stream.
Are there other non-salt softening methods?
There are a number of other technologies: reverse osmosis for the whole house, nucleation assisted crystallization (NAC), carbon-electrolytic, and other magnetic or electrical (electromagnetic pulses). Among all, magnetic softeners cost nothing to operate and last longer. AkwaMag arguably is the most powerful magnetic softener available on the market.
How strong is the AkwaMag?
AkwaMag can be 1000 times more powerful than other magnetic softeners on the market. Thanks to its patent pending High Intensity MultiPassTM Technology, the AkwaMag is as strong as a conventional magnetic softener equipped with 120lbs of high grade magnets, or an electrical (electromagnetic pulses) softener equipped with a 400lbs electromagnetic coil.
Is the AkwaMag environmental friendly?
Yes, AkwaMag is a registered public benefit corporation with a clear focus on environmental friendly strategy, striving for triple bottom lines: people – planet – profit. The AkwaMag saves water, reduces contamination, and maximizes wastewater reclamation for irrigation and reuse. It is highly recognized by Green Biz, Sustainable Brands, and the CleanTech Open.
Does the AkwaMag treat all water in the home?
Yes, the AkwaMag treats the water for the whole house.
Which AkwaMag do I need?
The AkwaMag LiteTM is designed for a small house with 1-2 bathrooms. The AkwaMag PremiumTM is for a 2-3 bathroom house, designing for a typical family of four.
How to install the AkwaMag?
Installing the AkwaMag is easy. It is connected similarly to a traditional softener, but much simpler because it does not require drain line or electrical outlet. Generally, it is connected after water splitting off to the garden and before the first water outlet in the house.
Does the water feel “slippery soft”?
The water does not feel “slippery soft” like the traditional salt-softened water. Substituting sodium (salt) for calcium to form sodium carbonate makes the water feel slick or slimy. AkwaMag technology does not add any salt or chemical to make water slippery soft. AkwaMag water feels like distilled or deionized (DI) or reversed osmosis (RO) water, except for odor and taste. To improve these, we highly recommend the addition of sediment and carbon filters to remove solids, chlorine, and VOC impurities.
What will I see after installing the AkwaMag?
You will see a big relief from the maintenance headache and cost if you already have soft water. If you haven’t had soft water, you will see cleaner water fixtures and appliances – including your dishwasher – and see soap and shampoo lather better.
FOR TRADITIONAL SALT SOFTENERS OWNER…
How does the AkwaMag compare with my softener?
Unlike the traditional softener, AkwaMag does not need any maintenance and does not consume water or salt. It cost nothing to run and does not add the salty taste. AkwaMag is Eco-Friendly while salt softeners are banned or restricted due to their pollution to the environment in many communities across the US.
What do I gain by switching to AkwaMag?
You will gain time (no hauling salt bags and feeding your softener), money (eliminating salt and backwash water cost), space (AkwaMag has much smaller footprint), and a sense of contribution to the planet health (sustainable water practice).
How do I replace my softener with the AkwaMag?
It is extremely easy to retrofit your softener to the AkwaMag. Connect the AkwaMag inlet to the pipe joining the salt softener inlet and connect the AkwaMag outlet to the pipe joining the salt softener outlet. That’s all! You will gain more space by this replacement.
What power outlet and drain pipe does it need?
None! The AkwaMag requires no power nor drain line.
What is the maintenance schedule?
None! The AkwaMag is maintenance-free and projected to last 10 years or more
